TOML to YAML Converter guide

Some tools want YAML where your project has TOML, such as CI config or Kubernetes values built from a Cargo.toml or pyproject.toml. Paste the TOML and get indented YAML.

How it converts

  • Tables. Each [table] becomes a nested YAML map, indented 4 spaces.
  • Arrays of tables. Repeated [[name]] blocks become a YAML list of maps.
  • Dates. TOML dates become YAML timestamps in ISO 8601 form, such as 1979-05-27T07:32:00.000Z.
  • Comments. Dropped during conversion.

Frequently asked questions

Why is "2021" in quotes in the YAML?
The value was a string in TOML. Without quotes YAML would read 2021 as a number, so it is quoted to stay a string.
Are TOML comments kept?
No. Comments are dropped during conversion.
Why do I get "Cannot redefine existing key"?
The same key or table appears twice in your TOML. Each key can only be set once.
